The pH measurement methods of cosmetics are divided into dilution method and direct measurement method. For powders, ointments and water-based emulsions in parcels, the direct measurement method cannot be used.

Dilution method:
Weigh 1 part of the sample (accurate to 0.1g), add 9 parts of experimental water with conductivity less than 5 μS/cm and without carbon dioxide, heat to 40°C (104°F), stir the sample thoroughly before testing. If the sample has a high oil content, it can be heated to 70 to 80°C, and after cooling, remove the oil for testing. Powdered samples need to be precipitated and filtered before testing.

Direct measurement method:
Put the appropriate amount of sample in the packaging container into the beaker or open the seal directly for testing.

Things to note when measuring:
.Be sure to calibrate the pH meter before measuring.
·The temperature difference between the sample to be tested and the standard buffer solution used during calibration cannot be too large. .It is necessary to stir the sample thoroughly when measuring.
·The measurement results are based on the second average value.
